My client who are a leading educational institution based in Brighton are looking for a candidate to Head up the IT Business Engagement team.

The Job

To lead and manage the business engagement team, acting as a point of engagement with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead the engagement strategy and approach, working closely with senior managers across the institution to ensure that engagement is carried out consistently.

This role is responsible for collaborating with staff throughout to understand needs and strategies and to identify how technology services and planned IT developments can support their strategic aims. You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships and be an advocate for IT in a complex, organisation with an annual budget in excess of £200M.

Salary: £44,000 - £51,000 (DOE)

Core Activities, Duties and Key Tasks

  • Lead and manage the core Business Engagement team including responsibility for recruitment, deployment and ongoing line management of staff
  • Lead on the development of a holistic approach (including systems and processes) for the delivery of engagement activities, ensuing an efficient and effective service
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on all delivery and operations matters affecting their team to the Management Team, leadership teams and committees to enable effective governance and planning
  • Provide thought leadership on the future of technology as it relates to the organisation, partnering on the development of strategic ideas
  • To coordinate and maintain collaborative relationships between Information Services and key stakeholders across the institution
  • To support the planning cycle in Schools and Departments, working to develop realistic roadmaps and plans and contributing to prioritisation of the IT work programme
  • To understand IT plans and roadmaps and be able to explain these to our customers, identifying where existing or new services could meet their needs
  • To provide expertise to define projects with a technology component, working with project sponsors to identify and quantify business benefits, support the development of business cases and ensure benefits realisation
  • To further support these projects but facilitating the delivery of new technologies and systems into the organisation, acting as a bridge between stakeholders and IT project teams


  • Extensive knowledge of the development and operation of business engagement systems, processes and approaches
  • Business relationship management professional certification or extensive experience
  • Substantial experience in the leadership of customer engagement in a complex IT environment
