Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Systems UK Quality Manager/Quality Lead Engineer with responsibility for monitoring, analysing and improving all aspects of Quality Assurance on applicable programmes. Key to this will be ensuring programme adherence through process implementation in accordance with company processes and any specific customer requirements. Specifically, the role supports the establishment of manufacturing quality controls for the in-process verification of products and final inspection to support product release and certification, including repaired items. Supplier and customer quality liaison regarding issue investigation and resolution is also included. Decision making will be in line with guidelines and precedents or with guidance from senior staff.
Responsibilities Include: Plan and conduct Quality Assurance activities for defined products to allow for the signing/stamping of Certificates of Conformity on behalf of the Company including End Item Data Pack approval. -Consultancy and support/advice to Programme Managers, Engineering and other business areas as required. -Reviewing/compiling product item history data in support of warranty returns/repairs/uplift etc. -Ensure that Non-conforming products, services and processes are investigated and effective correction and corrective actions are implemented. -Review of key manufacturing documents including subcontractor produced documents. -Supplier liaison for investigations, problem resolution etc. -Representing the Quality function, including the presentation of data, in house and at customer sites for applicable programmes. -Promote quality awareness within programmes and suppliers. -Prepare quality reports, for internal and external purposes to monitor and review progress of programme activities. -Undertake analysis of non-conformances to establish trends, root cause analysis and appropriate improvement opportunities. -Support to design and development programmes when required as directed by reporting line.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required:
Understanding of inspection and testing techniques Good knowledge of ISO9001 Understanding of Defence/Military standards at a working level. Experience of working in a manufacturing environment. Good communication skills including written, verbal and presentation. Must be willing to travel within and outside the UK and be flexible in terms of working hours associated with overseas working.
Internal Auditor qualified.
ONC/HNC in an Engineering/Quality Discipline with Quality Engineering Experience.
