Salary: Circa £24k - £30k

Hours - 40 hours per week

Principal Role:

  • To ensure that any vehicles operating on the fleet are Maintained, fit for purpose & insured.
  • Ensure all drivers are aware of their responsibilities, have the correct training and are carrying out their obligations with regards to operating a company vehicle.
  • Ensure the company are operating within the law with regards to vehicles, people and planning / O licence.

Lorries:

  • Plan lorry activities based on requests from various department Managers, realising most efficient planning. Realising the high volume of drops and the short notice of instruction.
  • Ensure drivers hours are abided by, daily checks are carried out, drivers are working efficiently and are presentable and courteous to customers.
  • Make sure O Licence rules are maintained.
  • Plan lorry maintenance, checks, MOT's and insurance are in place
  • Be aware of weight and access restraints

Vans:

  • Ensure all vans are insured, MOT'd, serviced and maintained.
  • Order new vans from approved suppliers, ensure best value based on price, service and specification.
  • Ensure regular checks are carried out on vans by drivers.
  • Arrange for any hired / rental vans & off hire when completed.

Cars:

  • Ensure all cars are insured, MOT'd, serviced and maintained.
  • Order new cars from approved suppliers, ensure best value based on mileage price, service and specification.
  • Check users mileage is in line with lease agreement
  • Ensure regular checks are carried out on vans by drivers.
  • Arrange for any hired / rental cars & off hire when completed.

Maintenance:

  • Arrange with Engineer or Garage any servicing, MOT's & Maintenance
  • Arrange with vehicle drivers times and locations for maintenance, causing minimal disruption and replacement vehicle where necessary.
  • Organise tyre replacement to suit working hours and minimal disruption.

Drivers:

  • Make sure all drivers have a valid driving licence suitable to drive the vehicle that they are operating.
  • Check age of driver's.
  • Ensure drivers have signed vehicle agreement.
  • Ensure regular vehicle checks on vehicles are carried out.
  • Check drivers have the correct qualifications, training & tickets to drive vehicles and carry out tasks.
  • Deal with any driver issues, poor driving, lack or poor vehicle checking, accidents, speeding and general behaviour related to driving.

Insurance:

  • Check all vehicles on fleet and hired in are insured.
  • Carry out accident investigations alongside compliance department.

Other tasks:

  • Make sure all costs are allocated correctly to the correct departments ensure the company's vehicle monitoring system is used to the best use for the company.
  • Briefings to drivers
  • Organise training for drivers.
  • Deal with finance quotes from approved suppliers.
  • Ensure all fuel is purchased at the most efficient rates.
  • Maintain records on fuel use, identifying any unusual trends.
  • Ensure compliance with FORS
  • Be available for breakdowns & contactable to drivers
